On October 11, 2011 our Vice President and Co-Founder, Bill Weatherholtz, passed away. He and Jeanie were married 56 years and had 4 children and many grandchildren. abill was retired military and also retired Boerne school bus driver. He will be sorely missed by all of us.

Due  to a slow down in donations, we are unable to take in any more horses at this time. We have 100 horses to care for and with high gas prices and rising feed costs, we are struggling.

If you can help with a donation, we would be most grateful. You may use PayPal or regular mail: 682 Krause Rd, Pipe Creek, TX 78063. Thank you for your support. No donation is too small and remember, it's tax deductible.

Welcome to The Brighter Days Horse Refuge web site. We hope you will bear with us as we update and reorganize the site. For these many years Karin Baker has designed and managed our site and we want to take this opportunity to give her our heartfelt thanks. We have had many compliments due to her diligence and we hope we can live up to her standards. We are new to this task, so we are taking our time, hopefully to get it right, We invite you to visit again...how about next month?

HELP FOR NICKIE....

We need your help for our beloved Nickie. Many of you might remember that he is the first rescue by Brighter Days back in 1987. He was abandoned and left to starve. At 18 months old, he turned out to be the kindest and sweetest colt ever...and he still is.

Somehow Nick has cracked a pelvic bone and our vet is recommending Shock Wave therapy. That session will cost around $1,000. Hopefully he will only need one treatment. The therapy will help stimulate blood flow and help seal the crack.

As for now he is being walked twice a day and he is being kept away from his buddies so as not to aggravate the injury. So he is not a happy camper!

If you can help Nick you can use PayPal or send a check to: BDHR, 682 Krause Rd, Pipe Creek, TX 78063. And be sure to print "Nickie" on your check. Thank you so much.
